About the opportunity
Southern Cross University’s SCU College is one of six academic units at Southern Cross University (two Colleges and four Faculties) and sits within the portfolio of the Pro Vice-Chancellor (Academic Quality). SCU College offers award, pre-degree and English language programs that provide pathways to university study and can transform lives of Australian and international students. Your core responsibilities will include:
- Teaching and unit assessing English Language Programs and pathway courses for domestic and international students.
- Leading curriculum development for courses such as Business Communication, Advanced Communication, and English for Academic Purposes.
- Supporting student learning by coordinating Study Tours, providing academic guidance, and developing flexible, technology-enhanced learning options.
- Contributing to program improvements through curriculum reviews, benchmarking, and engagement with scholarship in teaching and learning.
About you
You will be an enthusiastic educator with experience in teaching English language and pathway programs, passionate about supporting diverse learners. You’re skilled at adapting to varied teaching environments, and your commitment to student success shines through in your engaging approach to teaching. More specifically, you will have:
- A postgraduate qualification in a relevant field, along with an ELICOS teaching qualification.
- Practical experience in developing educational resources and teaching English language programs in face-to-face, blended, and online formats.
- Proficiency with contemporary educational technologies and a willingness to innovate curriculum.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively with diverse student groups and external stakeholders.
- A collaborative approach, with the ability to lead a teaching team and adapt to changes as needed.
- Commitment to cultural diversity, equity, and workplace safety principles in line with the University’s values.
Salary and benefits
Our staff benefit from flexible work arrangements, including hybrid work models, generous parental and carer’s leave provisions, wellbeing initiatives, employee assistance programs and professional learning opportunities. This position is:
- Full-time, continuing (permanent)
- Located at Gold Coast, QLD 4225. Generous relocation support is available.
- Academic Level A. The base salary ranges from $78,287 - $105,224 per annum, plus 17% employer’s contribution to superannuation. The total remuneration package is up to $123,112.
