Level A (Associate Lecturer)

About the Role

As an Associate Lecturer, you’ll play a key role in shaping the learning experience within the College, contributing to the delivery of cutting-edge, innovative teaching practices and technologies.

Working under the guidance of senior academics, you’ll be responsible for preparing and delivering engaging course content, while helping to foster a collaborative, inclusive learning environment. This is a fantastic opportunity to build your academic career, make an impact in the field of Aboriginal Health, and contribute to the development of future health professionals.

About You

To be successful in this role you will exhibit:

  • Evidence of contributing to teaching and the scholarship of teaching at the discipline level, including involvement in curriculum development and teaching methodology
  • Experience applying innovative approaches to pedagogy and/or curriculum design
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills and interpersonal skills, including the ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with staff and students
  • Demonstrated experience in communicating with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, key stakeholders, and their representatives to achieve positive outcomes
  • Familiarity with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health issues and an understanding of the social determinants of health as they impact Indigenous Australians
  • Identifies as an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person and is recognised as such by an appropriate Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander body, preferably with experience of Katherine Big Rivers Region Indigenous cultures.

Level B (Lecturer)

About the Role

As a Lecturer, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of teaching and learning in this vital field. You’ll have the opportunity to contribute to the excellence of our curriculum, while driving innovation in teaching practices and technologies.

In this role, you’ll independently design, deliver, and enhance course content, ensuring the highest standards of education while fostering a deeper understanding of Indigenous perspectives and cultural practices. Your work will contribute to the scholarship of teaching and help empower the next generation of students.

About You

To be successful in this role you will exhibit:

  • Completion of a PhD OR community cultural recognition plus completion or near completion of a postgraduate degree or substantive experience in some branch of Indigenous studies/education
  • Successful and independent innovation in learning and teaching delivery or design, including use of e-learning technologies, in the areas of Indigenous health issues, cultural safety, primary health care and population health.
  • Demonstrated contribution to academic quality assurance processes, such as topic or course reviews
  • Experience or capability to engage with students (and deliver teaching modules) via online learning platforms, related to Central Australian Indigenous knowledges and cultural practices
  • Established relationships with Indigenous communities, groups and organisations within Central Australia, including the ability to lead community consultation
  • Experience with engagement within a relevant external professional domain and within a wider community context at local or national level which could include working parties, committees, professional associations and conferenced workshops.

About Flinders Rural and Remote Health NT

At Flinders Rural and Remote Health NT, our aim is to be a hub for innovative health research, education, and workforce development across the Northern Territory.  We engage with students, community, and stakeholders to provide critical programs, such as the Northern Territory Medical Program, Paramedicine, Rural Clinical School, and the University Department of Rural Health.
