The School of Communication is seeking an industry-active Professor to build on the program’s reputation for impactful research and engagement at a time of creative challenges and change.
About the Opportunity
The Professor of Creative Writing will be responsible for leading the Writing program in the School of Communication with a view to shaping the program’s aims and objectives within the context of a strong Communication School and an ambitious University that values diversity, creative practices, social sciences and industry relevance. The Professor of Creative Writing will provide scholarly leadership in overseeing curriculum development and in creating an environment for research excellence. The Professor will be responsible for supervising staff, fostering industry-facing networks and knowledge, and representing UTS Writing on the national and international stage.
The Professor of Creative Writing will possess national and/or international standing as a writer, will have a strong research and impact track record, and will be an established or emerging leader in Creative Writing education. The role entails supervision and mentoring of a talented staff group, leadership of the Discipline, and contributing to the School Executive in planning for change and growth within the context of UTS strategy.

Remuneration & Benefits
Base Salary Range: $221,484 pa (Level E)
This role attracts 17% superannuation (pension) in addition to the base salary.

This position is full time, and the appointment will be made on a continuing basis
