In addition, Keele University subject experts and Programme Directors are supporting the implementation of the BSc in Public Health Management. Details of Position

We are looking for a full-time Lecturer to teach on our BSc (Hons) Public Health Management programme, for modules such as:

  • Lifestyle and change in contemporary Society.
  • Epidemiology and its application to improving public health.
  • Health promotion and research for improving public health.

This is a full-time teaching position, which includes a maximum of 20 teaching periods a week (Monday to Friday). Each teaching period is 40 minutes of class time. In addition to teaching hours, each teacher has weekly office hours when students can come and ask questions. We have two 12-week semesters per year, each followed by an assessment period and several weeks of marking. We pride ourselves on having a high level of staff retention and we are committed to staff development.

*We currently have one position open for an immediate start as well.

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in a relevant subject area, or equivalent subject expertise.
  • Several years of relevant teaching experience.
  • Ability to plan and deliver engaging, student-centred lessons in English.
  • Ability to contextualise learning for a Chinese context.
  • Experience of teaching in a UK/International Higher Education Institution is desirable.
  • A dedicated teaching qualification, such as a CELTA or equivalent is desirable.
  • Non-native English-speaking candidates would normally have an IELTS 7.5 or equivalent.

Salary and Benefits

The starting salary for a Lecturer is 20,710* RMB per month, and for a Senior Lecturer this is 23,150* RMB per month, *including the 2,500 RMB a month housing allowance paid to international staff. (This is the 2024-25 pay scale, with next academic year receiving an inflation rise) In addition to this, flight allowance and visas are provided for international staff.

We offer all full-time staff the opportunity to study for a fully funded Postgraduate Certificate in International Education (PGCIE), as well as a full MA in Education. All staff hold individually negotiated development plans, regular peer observations are done throughout the semesters and various continual professional development sessions are organised in-house or with external speakers throughout the year.

Chengdu

Chengdu is considered one of the most liveable cities in China, with spectacular and varied cuisine, vibrant nightlife and a wealth of cultural heritage, and is served by an extensive, clean and efficient metro system. The campus is situated in Wenjiang’s university district on the outskirts of the Chengdu.
