About the opportunity
Southern Cross University’s Centre for Teaching and Learning is seeking a Senior Lecturer to advance the quality of education by providing strategic guidance in curriculum development and the Scholarship of Learning and Teaching (SoLT). You’ll play a central role in incorporating emerging technologies, such as Generative AI (GenAI) into our curriculum and assessment methods, while upholding academic integrity, along with driving programmatic assessment initiatives and e-portfolio use. You will support our commitment to innovative, impactful education through curriculum development and targeted professional learning. Your core responsibilities will include:
- Lead SoLT initiatives to elevate teaching practices across the University and develop grants and awards.
- Designing and coordinating professional learning programs and training aligned with programmatic assessment and the University’s strategic goals.
- Providing expert guidance on curriculum development, ensuring alignment with SCU’s strategic priorities.
- Collaborate with university stakeholders to implement innovative, student-centred learning approaches.
- Building relationships across SCU to foster a supportive, forward-thinking team culture that aligns with staff and student needs.
About you
You will be a proactive educator with expertise in innovative curriculum design and advanced teaching practices. With a commitment to student-centred learning and an eye toward the future of education. More specifically, you will have:
- A PhD in Education or a related field with substantial teaching experience in higher education.
- Proven expertise in curriculum design and experience with diverse learning modes, including online and hybrid.
- Proven skills in technology-enhanced learning and GenAI applications in teaching.
- Strong research and publication record in higher education teaching practices.
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills to engage faculty and external partners.
- Knowledge of the Australian Higher Education sector and standards.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to provide constructive feedback and build partnerships.
- An AdvanceHE Higher Education Academy qualification is highly advantageous.
Salary and benefits
Our staff benefit from flexible work arrangements, including hybrid work models, generous parental and carer’s leave provisions, wellbeing initiatives, employee assistance programs and professional learning opportunities. This position is:
- Full-time, continuing (permanent)
- Located at both Gold Coast, QLD 4225, or Lismore, NSW 2480. Generous relocation support is available.
- Academic Level C. The base salary ranges from $138,848 - $155,046 per annum, plus 17% employer’s contribution to superannuation. The total remuneration package is up to $181,403.
