Position Summary
The Barowsky School of Business is seeking a part-time instructor to teach a course in the Master of Science in Cybersecurity program during the spring of 2025 (January-March)). The class meets on Wednesdays online.


Responsibilities
  • Teach a three-unit course at the graduate level
  • Evaluate and grade student work and provide feedback to students
  • Mentor and advise students on the progress of their projects and coursework
  • Uphold academic performance standards and integrity
  • Instructors are required to work with the School to complete assessments of the course for AACSB Assurance of Learning purposes

  • Course Description
  • MSC-5705-1 Secure Coding and Application Security (1/21/2025-3/5/2025; 6:00 pm - 10:00 pm Pacific on Wednesdays online) -- This course provides comprehensive guidance and insight into secure software coding, development, and overall application security with a dedicated emphasis on cybersecurity. Students will acquire foundational principles and best practices, emphasizing secure programming techniques. The course will also cover threat modeling, risk assessment, and architectural approaches to fortify (web) applications' security postures. The course navigates the integration of security into the DevOps (DevSecOps), Machine Learning Security Operations (MLSecOps), and Artificial Intelligence for IT operations (AIOps) pipelines, utilizing continuous integration and continuous development (CI/CD) workflows, agile development, and APIs to automate processes. Recognizing the pivotal role of coding in cybersecurity, the curriculum goes beyond proficiency in secure coding practices, fostering the ability to scale lean and agile methodologies. Students will emerge adept at addressing evolving cybersecurity challenges throughout the software development lifecycle (SDLC).

  • Required Qualifications
  • Master's degree in Technology, Information Security/Cybersecurity or a closely related field
  • Professional work experience in Secure Coding and Cybersecurity
  • Google Suite: Docs, Gmail, Calendar, Drive, Sheets, and Slides
  • Microsoft Office Suite: Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
  • Zoom
  • Digital Camera
  • Must be a California resident

  • Preferred Qualifications
  • PhD degree in Technology, Information Security/Cybersecurity, or a closely related field
  • Teaching experience at the graduate level, especially in cybersecurity, software engineering, or application development courses
  • ISO/NIST/COSO/PCI-DSS Risk Management standards/frameworks experience
  • Industry Certifications: CISSP, CISM, CRISC, CGEIT, CISA, and others
  • Industry experience in software development, application security, or cybersecurity roles
