The post holder will be working within the One Health Cardiology Research Group led by Prof Kamalan Jeevaratnam reporting to Head of Discipline (Comparative Biomedical Sc) and Prof Jeevaratnam. Additionally, there will be an expectation to be involved in working together with other members of the department to drive the ‘One Health-One Medicine’ research strategy for non-communicable disease research.

It is envisaged that the successful candidate’s expertise ideally should fit with or compliment these areas of research but not necessarily overlap. We are keen to appoint a candidate (i) that will bring synergistic expertise but with a focus on electrophysiological expertise (ii) who’s research portfolio will benefit from existing expertise within the department.
The post holder in expected to work collaboratively with Prof Jeevaratnam in bid submissions and also pursue an independent research portfolio that is supported by external funding and evidenced by high quality publication.
There will be an expectation to contribute to the teaching of preclinical sciences (e.g. genetics, physiology, molecular biology, cellular sciences etc) at postgraduate and undergraduate level and selected subject in the later years of the veterinary medicine programme.
About you
You will have a PhD in a related field and prior solid postdoctoral research experience with key outputs in cardiac electrophysiology. Evidence of collaborative research network locally and internationally is essential.
