The Opportunity

Are you a passionate and experienced psychology professional looking to make a significant impact in academia? The School of Psychology is seeking an Associate Professor in Psychology to join the team. This role offers a unique opportunity to lead and shape the future of our School and the discipline of psychology.

As an Associate Professor, you will be instrumental in guiding the strategic direction of the School, providing overarching academic leadership, and mentoring early-career academics. Your expertise in therapy, assessment, or consultancy, along with your specialisation in a particular area of psychology, will be highly valued. In this position, you will be responsible for leading the teaching of psychology, driving curriculum development, and ensuring continuous quality improvement. Your leadership will extend to the research domain, where you will contribute to the School’s research direction, regularly publish in high-impact journals, and secure competitive external research funding. You will also supervise coursework, honours, masters, and higher degree research students, fostering their academic growth. Your role will encompass the administration and development of psychology programs, where you will actively participate in governance and leadership activities. Enhancing the interactions between teaching and research, facilitating the transition of students to postgraduate research and study will be key objectives of your role. Additionally, you will build strong relationships with industry and professional bodies.

This is a full-time, ongoing position with campus location to be discussed. The School of Psychology is based across three campuses located at Bankstown, Parramatta and Kingswood, although travel to other campuses of the University may be required.

About You

You are an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person with a post-graduate qualification and a PhD in Psychology or a related discipline. Your leadership and mentoring skills have successfully cultivated training and research programs and built collaborative and productive research teams. Your research is well-established, demonstrated by significant funding, high-quality publications, and a robust network of international collaborators. You have substantial experience in supervising research students and have shown excellence in innovative teaching methods. Your ability to forge strong relationships with professional, governmental, and industry sectors has led to impactful educational, research, and engagement outcomes. You excel in translating research for broader audiences and addressing public issues.

Remuneration Package: Academic Level D $202,792 to $222,734 p.a. (comprising Salary of $171, 829 to $188,873 p.a., plus Superannuation and Leave Loading)
