The Department of Marketing and International Business at the University of Vienna invites committed applications for University Assistant (praedoc) at the Marketing research group (Prof. Dr. Martin Eisend). The position is funded by the German Research Foundation (DFG) for a research project entitled: OLDER CONSUMERS, NEW CHALLENGES: PORTRAYALS OF OLDER CONSUMERS IN ADVERTISING AND THEIR PERSUASIVE EFFECTS.

Extent of employment: 30 hours/week

The contract is restricted to 3 years, whereby the employment relationship is initially limited to 1.5 years and is automatically extended to a total of 3 years, unless the employer submits a declaration of non-renewal after a maximum of 12 months.

Your personal sphere of influence:

As a university assistant praedoc you will complete the team around Prof. Dr. Martin Eisend at the Institute of Marketing and International Business. You are expected to conduct under the guidance of the lead researcher different empirical studies (meta-analysis, content analysis, and experiments) that address the topic of the research project. You are expected to contribute to the presentation and distribution of the studies’ findings. You will provide support in organizational and administrative activities and cooperate with project partners from Poland and the US.

Your future tasks:

The successful candidate will engage in the following activities:

  • Contribute to the research project by conducting under the guidance of the lead researcher different empirical studies (meta-analysis, content analysis, and experiments) that address the topic of the research project.
  • Write a doctoral thesis. We expect the successful candidate to sign a doctoral thesis agreement within 12-18 month.
  • Additional Tasks are: involvement in administration and the cooperation with project partners in Poland and the US.

This is part of your personality:

  • MA or MSc in the study field of Business Administration, Psychology or a comparable degree.
  • Excellent command of written and spoken English.
  • Substantial and applied knowledge of research methods and statistical procedures that are typically applied in advertising research studies, including skills in the application of statistics software (e.g., SPSS, STATA, R, etc.).
  • Profound theoretical knowledge about marketing communication and ideally some knowledge about the topic of the project.
  • We are looking for a highly motivated, curious person who is willing to take on responsibility and go the extra mile.
  • Experience in scientific writing (in English), Experience in data collection and analyses.
