SCHOOL OF NURSING

Established in 1977, the School of Nursing supports the mission of the University by nurturing graduates who are critical thinkers, effective communicators, innovative problem solvers, lifelong learners and ethical leaders. It ranks 31st for the best School of Nursing internationally (QS Ranking 2024). The education, research, consultancy and integrative health services are driven by a commitment to improve health of the community.  Currently, it has a total of around 80 full-time faculty members. Research Assistant Professor in Nursing: Cancer & Palliative Care AOE / Primary Health Care AOE (three posts) (Ref. 241024002)

The appointees will be required to:

(a)  conduct research in the area of cancer or women’s health, as the main duty and actively pursue external research grants, such as General Research Fund as well as Health and Medical Research Fund, as Principal Investigator or Co-Investigator;  

(b)  provide quality teaching at undergraduate or postgraduate level;  

(c)  contribute to departmental service;

(d)  conduct research that leads to publications in refereed journals and award of research grants;  

(e)  engage in applied research, creative development and consultancy projects in relation to cancer nursing;  

(f)  contribute to the development of the School’s cancer research theme or primary health care theme and participate in its activities; and  

(g)  perform any other duties as assigned by the Head of School or his/her delegates.  

Qualifications

Applicants should:

(a)  have a PhD degree in Nursing or a related discipline, preferably with at least two years of postdoctoral research experience at the time of appointment;  

(b)  preferably have professional qualifications registrable with The Nursing Council of Hong Kong;  

(c)  have demonstrated promise of a high level of creative ability in research and teaching in some subdivisions of his/her field;  

(d)  be able to demonstrate effective classroom teaching skills; and  

(e)  be highly proficient in written and spoken English.  

Conditions of Service

A highly competitive package including a medical benefits plan and a gratuity payable upon completion of the term which is normally for two to three years initially, with possibility of extension.
