In addition to providing a solid academic education, we also place a special emphasis on the personal development of students. We support students in developing curiosity and critical thinking, thereby creating a solid foundation for the professional challenges of the next generation.
Your workplace:
As a Senior Lecturer, you will be responsible for academic teaching in the field of French regional studies at the Institute of Romance Studies in the BA, MA and teaching degree programs in French, with an average of 7 semester hours per week.
The Department of Romance Studies offers Bachelor’s, Master’s and PhD degree programs in five Romance languages and teacher-training courses for
secondary schools in three languages (French, Italian and Spanish). The institute is part of the Faculty of Philological and Cultural Studies. More than 100 academic staff members and a few thousand students apreciate the diversity of subjects, internationality, outstanding research projects and interdisciplinary cooperation.
Your future tasks:
You actively participate in scientific teaching, research & administration, which means:
- You hold courses independently within the scope of the provisions of the collective bargaining agreement. That means an average of 14 semester hours per week for full-time employment.
- In the field of French regional studies, your research focus is on social dynamics in contemporary France.
- You will take on administrative tasks, especially in the administration of teaching, whereby knowledge of university administration is welcomed.
- We expect you to keep abreast of the latest scientific developments and to undergo further didactic training.

- Completed PhD (Romance Studies / French)
- Several years of independent teaching at a post-secondary educational institution
- Didactic competences / experience with e-learning
- Experience in research and publication
- Excellent command of written and spoken German (C1 Level), futhermore knowledge of French at native speaker level.
- IT user skills
- You should be a team player with high social skills
- The development of project ideas for university continuing education in the spirit of the Third Mission is important to you.
