The Thermal Energy Group within The School of Engineering works across multiple projects in partnership supported by Australian Renewable Energy Agency and the Heavy Industry Low-Carbon Transition Cooperative Research Centre (HILT CRC). This is an opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge research in renewable energy systems and heavy industry decarbonisation.
About the Role:
Mechanical/Chemical Engineer
- Requires a mechanical/chemical engineer or process metallurgist with a strong design and fabrication background to support design, construction and testing of a novel fluidised-bed reactor for hydrogen reduction of iron ore, including the core reactor and associated instrumentation and controls.
- Experience with computer-aided design, hazard and operability (HAZOP) studies and/or engineering project management techniques will be considered favourably.
- Position is supported with funding from ARENA project “De-risking large-scale Australian fine-ore hydrogen ironmaking” and HILTCRC project “Prevention of sticking in H2 fluidised bed DRI production”.
