Job Advertisement: GENS 101 Course Facilitator and Lecturer

Start Date: January 2025

The General Education Unit invites applications for a faculty position at the Senior Lecturer rank. Candidates should have a Master’s degree (no PhDs) in a relevant science or engineering discipline, together with a minimum of five years of related experience at a recognized, top-tier institution. 

Required Experience:

• Strong, multi-disciplinary background in science and/or engineering
• Hands-on experience in one or more of the following areas: sustainability, environmental sciences, engineering design, robotics, electronics, 3D printing, programming, research methodology, social research, and related fields
• Strong soft skills and IT skills
• Experience using Excel, Blackboard, CATME, and 3D modeling software preferred

The post holder will teach and facilitate the offering of the GENS 101 Grand Challenge course, which highlights science and engineering approaches to interdisciplinary, real-world applications, especially addressing Grand Challenge problems facing humanity. The course introduces aspects of problem solving, from the formulation of questions and problems to the testing of hypotheses and trial solutions. Students work collaboratively on project-based activities as they discuss ethical issues; social, economic, and environmental aspects of sustainability; and the technicalities of Grand Challenges. 

Required Qualifications:

• Master’s degree in a related discipline from an accredited institution
