Department of Health Technology and Informatics

The Department of Health Technology and Informatics (HTI) is one of the constituent departments of the Faculty of Health and Social Sciences hosting the disciplines of Medical Laboratory Science and Radiography.  HTI offers academic programmes at various levels, ranging from Bachelor’s degree all the way to PhD degree.  There are currently about 40 faculty members, with about 25 technical and administrative personnel, plus around 140 research students and research staff, 200 postgraduate students, and 660 undergraduate students in HTI. Duties

The appointee will be required to:

(a) teach and contribute to the programme/curriculum planning, development and administration at undergraduate and postgraduate levels; 

(b) supervise undergraduate and postgraduate research projects and theses; 

(c) conduct research in related areas and contribute to the development of the Unit’s research strengths; 

(d) engage in scholarly research, consultancy and other scholarly activities leading to publications in top-tier refereed journals and award of research grants; 

(e) undertake academic and departmental administrative duties; and

(f) perform any other duties as assigned by the Head of Unit or his/her delegates. 

Qualifications

Applicants should:

(a) have a PhD degree in Anatomy, Physiology, Pathology, Radiography (Medical Imaging or Nuclear Medicine) or other closely related fields; 

(b) have a strong commitment to excellence in teaching and advising; 

(c) have a proven track record in research and academic achievements; 

(d) possess effective classroom teaching skills and good interpersonal skills; 

(e) have experience in acquiring external research funding including national, international funding bodies and industries; and 

(f) have excellent communication, organisation, leadership and collaboration skills, with the ability to work in an interdisciplinary team. 

Preference will be given to those with professional experience related to radiography.

Applicants with excellent teaching, publication and research collaboration track records will be considered for appointment at a higher level.

Conditions of Service

A highly competitive remuneration package will be offered.  Initial appointment for Assistant Professor will be on a fixed-term gratuity-bearing contract.  Re-engagement thereafter is subject to mutual agreement.
