Associate Professor / Assistant Professor in Management Information Systems (Ref. 241010028)
The Department of Management and Marketing (MM) is one of the constituent departments of the Faculty of Business. According to the 2024 US News and World Report Global University Ranking, PolyU is ranked 67th in the Best Global Universities and 30th in the Best Universities for Economics and Business (6th in Asia). The University of Texas at Dallas ranks our faculty's research 41st in the world and 5th in Asia (as of March 2024).
MM currently has around 70 full-time academic staff who are dedicated to providing cutting-edge knowledge and practical skills for our students in three key areas of business — Management, Marketing, and Management Information Systems. We offer a full range of programmes leading to the awards of Doctor of Philosophy, Master of Science, and Bachelor of Business Administration. Our doctoral program has successfully placed our PhD students in elite institutions in Asia and Australia, including Hong Kong University of Science & Technology, City University of Hong Kong, Renmin University, and Deakin University.
The Management Information Systems (MIS) area of MM invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position in MIS at the rank of Associate Professor or Assistant Professor. The MIS area of MM has grown rapidly in recent years with the addition of three research assistant professors, four tenure-track assistant professors, and two tenured full professors over a short span of three years. Faculty members in the MIS discipline of MM regularly publish their research in premium journals in the likes of MIS Quarterly, Information Systems Research, Journal of Management Information Systems, Management Science, Journal of Operations Management, as well as Production and Operations Management. The MIS group also includes Senior Editors and Associate Editors of leading journals in the discipline. The appointee will be required to (a) engage in top-level scholarly research in their areas of expertise; (b) supervise research students; (c) secure competitive research grants from external funding agencies; (d) teach at the undergraduate and/or postgraduate levels; and (e) perform any other duties as assigned by the Head of Unit or his delegates.
Applicants should have a PhD degree or equivalent in the field of specialization at the time of appointment or be close to receiving it.
Preference will be given to those with a research orientation and demonstrated ability to publish in high-quality scholarly journals as well as teaching experience in the area of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and/or Data Analytics.
Conditions of Service
The compensation package, research support and teaching loads are highly competitive and commensurate with candidates’ qualifications. Initial appointment for Assistant Professor will be on a fixed-term gratuity-bearing contract. Re-engagement thereafter is subject to mutual agreement. An appropriate term will be provided for appointment at Associate Professor level.
