The role

The post is based in the Department of Veterinary Clinical Science at the University of Surrey, within the School of Veterinary Medicine in Guildford, Surrey. You will be part of a growing, inter-disciplinary research group with a strong international reputation. The school and wider Faculty of Health and Medical Science has a strategic commitment to One Health research which is reflected in a diverse range of research groups investigating health and disease in humans and animals.

Applications are invited for a post-doctoral scientist to deliver the scientific objectives of a project which explores the potential of faecal biomarkers as research and clinical diagnostic tools for horses. The post holder will be primarily responsible for designing and undertaking laboratory assays of cytokines and other biomarkers in faecal samples, and for the statistical analysis of this data. Working with the project’s academic investigators, the post-holder will lead on writing high quality scientific papers for publication in peer-reviewed journals.

About you

The ideal candidate will have a track record of timely delivery of immunoassay results. Competency in laboratory immunoassay techniques essential and previous experience of multi-variable data analysis will be very useful in this role. A scientist with well-developed scientific writing skills is sought to deliver the required publications from this project in a timely fashion.
