Position Summary:
The Education Department at Susquehanna University invites applications for a tenure track position at the rank of Assistant Professor with a focus in early literacy and educational psychology to start in August 2025. Demonstrated success or evidence of potential to excel in teaching and advising undergraduates is essential, as is ongoing scholarly productivity and institutional service. Evidence of a strong commitment to pedagogies that foster diversity and inclusion is required.
Responsibilities will include teaching literacy and child development courses and supervising student teachers in pre-K - 4th grade placements. Additional responsibilities may include teaching introductory education courses and graduate courses. The new faculty member will advise education students, serve on university committees, and engage in scholarly and professional activities. The course load is 3 courses per semester.
Required Qualifications:
The successful candidate will have a doctoral degree in literacy, curriculum and instruction, or a related field. Also required is a minimum of two years of teaching experience in pre-k - 4th-grade school contexts, with a strong preference for candidates with additional university-level teaching experience. ABD will be considered, but completion of the degree is required by August 2025.
Preferred Qualifications:
Highly desirable are 3 or more years of teaching experience in early childhood or elementary education, as well as experience in higher education.
