About the Role 

We are seeking an innovative Research Fellow to join our multidisciplinary research team within the MedTechVic Hub and play a pivotal role in advancing the Hub’s mission to create and promote innovative, user-centred medical and assistive technologies that support participation and quality of life for end users.

The position is designed to support the research, development and commercialisation of cutting-edge technologies through a collaborative interdisciplinary approach that combines research excellence with practical applications in health, community care and industry. As the Research Fellow, you will focus on the delivery of programs to support the digitisation of the MedTech sector and the development of clinicians with product development skills. There will also be applied research and development projects that will span design, AR/VR, digital manufacturing and clinical activities.

This role involves working with other research fellows, health professionals, and end users of technology to co-design enabling technology solutions to support people to participate in their everyday lives. Working in a multidisciplinary team, you will add depth and knowledge of body functions and structures, mental health, disability, funding streams and task analysis to the pool of clinicians and researchers. To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate expertise in technology, a passion for improving healthcare outcomes through innovation and a commitment to inclusive and collaborative research practices.

About You  

To be suitable for this role you will need to have experience in the below key accountabilities:

  • A competitive track record and recognition for quality research outputs evidenced by publications, the development of new research initiatives, competitive research funding, and/or industry links.
  • Research experience in an area related to health, technology, disability, ageing, MedTech or innovative solutions or similar.
  • Experience in developing innovative solutions to address real world problems.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communications skills appropriate for interacting with higher degree by research candidates, staff and industry, together with a strong commitment to teamwork and multidisciplinary collaboration.
  • Comfort in working with diverse populations including people with different communication and support needs.
  • Ability to analyse quantitative and Qualitative data.

Qualifications

  • Undergraduate qualification in Nursing, Occupational Therapy, Medicine, Physiotherapy, Speech Pathology or related fields
  • A PhD in relevant fields such as Health, Design, Business or similar.
