- Oversee and manage the curriculum for the second-year core clinical subject (PCP2) in the Doctor of Medicine program, ensuring quality content and supporting student learning during their first full-time clinical placements.
- Play a pivotal role in shaping future doctors by managing and coordinating clinical education across multiple sites, recruiting expert staff, and ensuring students develop essential clinical skills in real-world healthcare settings.

About the Role
The Subject Coordinator for Principles of Clinical Practice 2 (PCP2) plays a critical role in the Melbourne Medical School’s Doctor of Medicine (MD) program.
This position is responsible for overseeing the second-year core clinical subject, where students engage in full-time hospital placements to develop essential diagnostic and therapeutic skills.
The role involves close collaboration with clinical schools and teams to ensure students gain practical experience aligned with the curriculum’s intended learning outcomes. Additionally, the coordinator contributes to continuous curriculum development, student support, and fostering a strong community of practice within the clinical school network.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Lead the coordination, delivery, and continuous refinement of the PCP2 curriculum, ensuring alignment with learning outcomes and collaboration with the MD assessment and evaluation teams.
- Engage with the clinical school network to support effective PCP2 delivery, manage student engagement issues, and contribute to Fitness to Practice and conduct management.
- Participate in departmental and university committees, promote diversity, inclusion, and integrity, and ensure compliance with university policies, procedures, and safety responsibilities.
Who We Are Looking For
You will demonstrate strong interpersonal and communication skills, fostering collaborative relationships across a broad research and teaching network while effectively engaging with a diverse student cohort, including those with academic adjustment plans.
With a commitment to excellence in teaching healthcare students, you will exhibit strong organisational, time management, and problem-solving abilities, while working closely with various clinical sites and directors of medical education to enhance the student experience.
You will also have:
- A post graduate educational qualification, or be working towards one.
- A health professional degree, registerable as a health practitioner in Australia
- Demonstrated commitment to excellence in teaching entry-to-practice healthcare professional students
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to establish effective and collaborative working relationships across a broad research and teaching network.

This role requires that the successful candidate must undergo and maintain an up-to-date Working with Children Check. This is essential to guarantee a secure environment for all individuals at the University.
