- Play a key role in the Australian Research Council Discovery Project, driving innovative solutions to improve outcomes of marine habitat restoration.
- Full-time appointment on a fixed term basis for 3 years.
- Base salary range: Level A, $80,520.00– $108,362.00p.a. (pro-rata) plus 17% superannuation.

The UWA Oceans Institute brings together the University of Western Australia’s multidisciplinary research strengths across oceanography, ecology, engineering, resource management and governance to address key ocean challenges. We work with local, state and federal governments, industry and business, research institutions and the community to help generate solutions towards the sustainable use of ocean resources.
About the opportunity
- Coordinate and engage in research on animal responses to marine habitat restoration projects in Western Australia and Victoria, under the guidance of senior academics.
- Build understanding of the reasons behind the unexpected responses of animals to restoration efforts to enhance project effectiveness.
- Contribute to the broader Australian Research Council Discovery Project aimed at improving biodiversity outcomes of marine habitat restoration.
About you
- A PhD or equivalent qualifications and experience in marine ecology or a related discipline
- A strong track record of research publication relative to opportunity
- Demonstrated ability to relate well to staff and students at all levels and evidence of a commitment to equity and diversity principles
- Expertise in ecological theory and its application
- Strong quantitative/modelling skills and experience in the design and analysis of ecologcal experiments
- Experience in research diving and the use of underwater visual census techniques
