We have an exciting opportunity to appoint a vibrant and engaged Senior Lecturer or Associate Professor to the School of Nursing in the College of Health at Massey University - Te Kunenga ki Pūrehuroa, who can provide outstanding leadership in teaching bioscience, evidence-based practice, and research within nursing pre-registration and postgraduate programmes.

Our school is one of the most prestigious and well-respected Schools of Nursing in Aotearoa New Zealand. The position is a permanent ongoing role, 1FTE (nominally 37.5 hours per week) on our Pōneke/Wellington campus.

Āu Mahi - What you will do

The role requires you to have experience with different research methodologies, including Kaupapa Māori and other indigenous methodologies, and to take a lead in developing a strong research culture. This will be underpinned by your ability to develop successful research grant applications. We need someone to build health sector, Iwi, and community engagement and work with colleagues with expertise in a wide range of disciplines.

The employment setting will involve work with people across the lifespan and applicants will be required to comply with the requirements of the Vulnerable Children Act 2014 and the Vulnerable Children (Requirements for Safety Checks of Children’s Workers) Regulations 2015.

As the successful candidate, you will lead with enthusiasm, energise the team, and strengthen the curricula by embedding Te Ao Māori, mātauranga Māori, tikanga and cultural safety within nursing courses in respect of Te Tiriti o Waitangi. We also require:

  •  A PhD or equivalent in nursing or health / science-related discipline
  • Recent clinical / science or education experience in nursing
  • Experience in developing nursing curriculum; use of a blended teaching approach, including online technologies
  • Publication in international high-quality peer-reviewed journals
  • Proven effective, positive leadership experience
  • Excellent communication and the ability to manage inter-disciplinary and trans-disciplinary teams
  • Demonstrated ability to form relationships with Iwi and community partners and external stakeholders
  • Proven strategic ability to lead research projects using Kaupapa Māori, and other qualitative, and quantitative methodologies
  • Demonstrated ability to supervise doctoral students in mixed methods, including Kaupapa Māori / indigenous methodologies

The salaries spanning these roles are from (2024), Senior Lecturer - $121,346 to $143,948 (NZD) to Associate Professor - $134,424 to $157,025 (NZD). Salary will be negotiable by background/experience.
