THE POST - Senior Lecturer in Cyber Security

Due to a significant investment in our teaching portfolio within our London Campus, the School of Computing, Engineering and Physical Sciences is seeking applications from individuals to join the Cyber Security team as a Senior Lecturer within the School’s Division of Computing. We welcome applications from experienced academics who can enhance our local, national and international profile. You will join a dedicated team who strives to continuously inspire our students and the wider University community – and, through modern teaching and impactful research, continue to deliver innovative solutions to some of the world’s biggest challenges. You will be passionate about your subject, influence change and will contribute to the development of the Cyber Security discipline.

The successful applicant will be based on the London Campus of the University of the West of Scotland. However, willingness to travel is an essential aspect of this post within the UK and internationally to teach at UWS partner institutions as deemed necessary to fulfil the University’s commitments.

The successful candidate should have the following:

  • Degree and relevant postgraduate/PhD qualification or equivalent qualification
  • Advance HE Fellowship
  • Experience of leading learning, influencing teaching and assessment within Higher Education
  • Appropriate evidence of external engagement which is clearly in line with the School’s priority areas for the future (e.g. external engagement in terms of research, knowledge exchange, or engagement with professional bodies or other external organisations)
  • Have extensive experience of developing and delivering modules in one or more of the following areas of Cyber Security, such as: network security, information security, cyber security, digital forensics, artificial intelligence and web application hacking.
  • Commitment to delivering high-quality teaching and supporting an outstanding student experience for students.

The current academic structure and nomenclature at UWS is as follows:

  • AC2 – Lecturer (first time academic post)
  • AC3 – Lecturer
  • AC4 – Senior Lecturer (alternate titles used in different Universities include Principal Lecturer or Associate Professor)
