Western Sydney University has established a sector-leading program to strengthen career pathways for casual academic staff by creating the equivalent of 150 full time positions by 1 March 2025. The WSU decasualisation program will play a significant role in reducing the level of insecure work in the Australian higher education sector.
With this in mind, the University is looking to recruit candidates it can invest in and develop over the long term, including training over the confirmation period to support candidates to retain stable, ongoing employment.
Successful candidates will undertake teaching, while also having the opportunity to develop a research portfolio and contribute to the University through governance activities at the School and/or University level.
About the School of Psychology
The School of Psychology is at the forefront of excellence in research, teaching, and clinical training. Psychology at WSU is recognised as performing above world standard in the Excellence in Research for Australia (ERA) evaluation. Psychology subjects are ranked in the top 250 in both the Times Higher Education World Subject Rankings and the QS World University Rankings by Subject.
The School is committed to the provision of clinical services, quality research, student learning and retention with a focus on providing students with clear professional pathways that prepare them as job-ready graduates. It provides two undergraduate (B Psych (Hons) and B Psych Sciences) undergraduate programs and two postgraduate professional practice programs: Master of Clinical Psychology and Master of Professional Psychology and is currently developing other postgraduate programs.
The School leadership team comprises the Dean of the School, Deputy Dean, Associate Deans, the School Manager, and Directors of Academic Program and is located across three campuses located at Bankstown City, Parramatta and Penrith (Kingswood).

These are a full-time, ongoing positions commencing from January 2025. These positions are based at Western’s Parramatta South Campus, although travel to other campuses of the University may be required.
Eligibility
Successful candidates will be subject to a two-year confirmation period and must provide evidence at the time of application that they:
- have been engaged as a casual academic for at least 2 teaching sessions within the previous 2 years at an Australian Higher Education institution; and
- hold or have submitted all requirements for a PhD or other relevant Level 10 AQF qualification; and
- have not previously held an ongoing position with an Australian Higher Education provider in the previous 3 years.
Candidates must submit evidence of the above requirements and any evidence they have of successful teaching results, such as Student Feedback on Teaching survey outcomes, at the time of application.

Remuneration Package: Academic Level A $106,765 to $128,989 p.a. (comprising Salary of $90,218 to $108,997 p.a., plus 17% Superannuation and Leave Loading), subject to a 2.9% salary increase effective from October 2024.
