Research Assistant Professor in the Department of Pharmacology and Pharmacy (Ref.: 528940)

This position has been established and funded as a component of The Hong Kong Jockey Club Inclusive Employment Support Project for Persons with disabilities.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Overall management of projects
  • Conduct qualitative and quantitative data analysis and management
  • Prepare reports and manuscripts
  • Assist in the supervision of junior research staff 

Requirements

  • A Ph.D. degree in healthcare-related or social sciences disciplines, including but not limited to pharmacy, nursing, public health, biostatistics, health economics, psychology, social work and social administration or a related field.
  • Proven capacity in research, and a good track record of high-quality publications.
  • Excellent quantitative and analytical skills.
  • Experience in conducting qualitative or mixed methods studies (e.g. conducting individual and/or focus group interviews, designing questionnaires for survey studies, survey validation, data collection and analysis using qualitative methods), quality of life research will be an advantage.
  • A strong sense of responsibility and the ability to work independently as well as in a team.
  • Excellent coordination, organisation and problem-solving skills.
  • A good command of spoken and written English and Chinese (Cantonese).
  • Attention to details.
  • Candidate with post-doctoral experience is preferred.
  • Knowledge of analysing quantitative research data using advanced statistical methods (e.g., MPlus, R, SAS) is preferred.
  • A relevant background in local and international research related applications (e.g. grants and IRBs) and management systems will have an advantage.

What We Offer

The appointment will commence as soon as possible on a 3.5-year fixed-term basis, with the possibility of renewal subject to satisfactory performance and funding availability.

A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered. The appointment on fixed terms will attract a contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme at 15% of basic salary. Other benefits include annual leave, medical benefits and free access to on-campus gyms and libraries.
