Post-doctoral Fellow in the Centre for Safe Medication Practice and Research, Department of Pharmacology and Pharmacy (Ref.: 528939) 

This position has been established and funded as a component of The Hong Kong Jockey Club Inclusive Employment Support Project for Persons with disabilities. The successful candidate will be hosted at the Department of Pharmacology and Pharmacy, in collaboration with The Faculty of Social Sciences.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • work on impactful pharmacoepidemiology and/or pharmacoeconomic projects, including retrospective cohort studies, target trial emulation, burden of disease, cost-effectiveness analyses, and discrete choice experiments
  • work on projects which applies machine learning and artificial intelligence techniques to develop clinical risk prediction models using electronic medical records databases and other datasets
  • design/refine the research instruments
  • coordinate data collection and analysis
  • support the organization of dissemination events
  • assist in the preparation of reports
  • Training opportunities will be provided for advanced methods on pharmacoepidemiology and/or pharmacoeconomic in areas including cardiology, psychiatry, oncology and infectious diseases
  • perform other duties as assigned 

Requirements

  • a Ph.D. degree in public health, biostatistics, health economics, data science or a related field
  • at least 1 year’s relevant working experience
  • excellent quantitative and analytic skills with knowledge in pharmacoepidemiology and/or pharmacoeconomic
  • an excellent command of written and spoken English and Chinese (Putonghua and Cantonese)
  • detail-oriented with strong communication and writing skills
  • the ability to work on a tight schedule to meet project deadlines
  • the ability to work independently and in a team
  • self-motivated and responsible
  • familiarity with the local education system with experience working with schools and managing educational research projects as an advantage
  • knowledge of analyzing quantitative research data using advanced statistical methods (e.g., MPlus, R, SAS) is preferred.

The appointment will commence as soon as possible on a 2-year temporary basis, with the possibility of renewal subject to satisfactory performance and funding availability.
