The School of Arts, English and Languages seeks to appoint a temporary Lecturer in the Modernist Literatures in English. The successful applicant will have a strong track record of publication in modernist literatures and undertake research in line with the School's research strategy. You will teach two stage-two and stage-three modules in Anglo-American modernism, contribute to the teaching in English at undergraduate and postgraduate level, and contribute to School administration and outreach activities. The appointment will be for a period of 12-months and the successful applicant will take up the role on 1 January 2025.

About the person:

The successful candidate must have/be able to demonstrate:

  • Have, or be about to obtain a PhD in modernist literature.
  • A record of recent publication of internationally excellent research in modernist literature appropriate to career stage.
  • Relevant teaching experience at both undergraduate and postgraduate level.
  • Ability to contribute to broader management and administrative processes.
  • Ability to communicate complex information clearly.
  • Effective interpersonal skills to liaise with students and colleagues.
  • Ability to encourage commitment to learn in others.
  • Ability to assess and organise resources.
