The Hong Kong Jockey Club Charities Trust (the Trust) has set up the Jockey Club STEM Early Career Research Fellowship for Translation and Application (formerly known as Jockey Club Global STEM Post-doctoral Fellowship for Translational Research and Application) and is now inviting applications from early career researchers from all over the world. The Fellowship will provide comprehensive support and unique opportunity to help STEM post-doctoral researchers develop their research and innovation career, expand their professional network and create social impact. The Research Grants Council (RGC) of Hong Kong is a Partner Organisation of this Fellowship.

The Fellowship

The Trust provides support for 3 years of full-time appointment for each awardee as Postdoctoral Fellow at the supporting university plus a maximum of 1-year translational research industry attachment.

Terms and Benefits

  • a stipend of up to $530,000 per annum for three years, with additional 15% gratuity to be offered upon completion of the Fellowship (including the industry attachment when applicable);
  • academic development and exchange allowance: up to $30,600 per annum for three years;
  • research project seed funding: up to $300,000;
  • translational research industry attachment subsidy in an eligible local organisation: the Trust’s contribution to be capped at 50% of the salary (up to $30,000 per month) for a maximum of 12 months in addition to the three-year stipends; and
  • fringe benefits include annual leave, medical and dental benefits, mandatory provident fund, and incoming passage and baggage allowance for the eligible appointees.

Eligibility

Applicants should have obtained/ been conferred a PhD degree or an equivalent qualification in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics disciplines on or after 1 July 2021; or will complete the required qualification before 31 December 2024.

IMPORTANT NOTE: Candidates applying for this Fellowship will not be considered by RGC for the RGC Junior Research Fellow Scheme in the same year.
