The role

We are seeking an enthusiastic individual with a veterinary degree and PhD for a full-time Lecturer post. The successful applicant will join a team of fellow professionals within the Department of Comparative Biomedical Sciences, School of Veterinary Medicine committed to providing excellence in teaching for the benefit of a new generation of vets.

In the role you will:

  • Use your skills to support theoretical and practical teaching, including in animal husbandry, anatomy, physiology and infectious diseases across years one and two of the programme, clinical teaching in years three and four and veterinary public health teaching in year five of the programme.
  • Support practical assessment across all years of the programme and contribute to academic administrative duties.
  • Develop and contribute to high quality research in veterinary sciences or education.

About you

Our Lecturers play an important role in influencing the future of the veterinary profession. As such, you will have:

  • A thorough understanding of basic and applied veterinary sciences including anatomy, physiology, infectious diseases and veterinary public health.
  • A passion for veterinary sciences and a strong commitment to delivering excellent teaching.
  • Enthusiasm and a willingness to work flexibly and creatively in different contexts are essential, alongside excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills.
  • Experience of teaching in an educational or professional setting.

Induction Commitment

We wish to create the conditions for success for our new starters in the Vet School, by facilitating their growth and development within our institution. All new starters who are on a local/Guildford contract are expected to be physically present on campus for 80% minimum of their working week during their initial four to six months of employment (the duration will vary depending on individual role).
