​​About King’s Centre for International Education and Languages   

​​King’s Centre for International Education and Languages is a new, cross-cutting Centre designed to widen the educational reach of King’s. It brings together three existing areas: King’s Foundations, Summer Programmes, and King’s Language Centre. 

 

This brings together international pathway provision, pre sessional programmes, pre-UG summer courses, UG summer modules, UG language modules, bespoke language programmes for the community and our partners and academic skills provision for all King’s students.

​Each of these areas are well established, respected and recognised within and beyond the King’s community. The Centre is focused on enabling collaboration between the three departments to further advance our work in promoting educational excellence and supporting and enhancing the student experience. The Centre has significant expertise in International Education and makes a significant contribution to the rich and diverse make-up of the King’s student body.  

 

About King’s Foundations    

​King’s Foundations is a leading centre for English for Academic Purposes (EAP) and pathway education across the HE sector, accredited by the British Council. As one of the largest providers of pathway education, we welcome over 2,500 students each year across our King’s International Foundation Programmes and our range of Pre-sessional Programmes. King’s Foundations is also responsible for the delivery of Academic Skills support across the university providing in person, online, and asynchronous programmes for students studying on all undergraduate and postgraduate programmes at King’s.  In addition, we offer an increasing number of short courses in English language learning and teaching.

​Our mission is to support a diverse group of learners to achieve their potential at King’s, supporting students to become independent and inquisitive learners. King’s Foundations is home to approximately 80 permanent staff, growing to around 150 during our busy summer months.  We champion a forward-thinking approach to education and take a digitally-enabled approach across all aspects of education. Over the last 6 years, the department has seen significant planned growth in support of King’s Vision 2029, with annual income of over £20m.  

 

About the role

 

To lead on the Student Experience Team in the development and delivery of an enhanced and distinctive student experience within the King’s Foundations.

 

To support King’s Foundations students in their effective transition to a UK HE environment, enhancing their student experience at King’s.

 

To ensure effective communication with students and staff about services and support available to them in the department and across the College.

 

The role is primarily based at Bush House on the King’s Strand Campus though you may be required to travel to other campuses on occasion.  King’s Professional Services staff can work in a hybrid working pattern with working from home permitted for up to 40% of each week. Changes to this pattern may occur and are determined by required output and departmental need.

 

This is a full time post (35 Hours per week), and you will be offered an indefinite contract.

About you

To be successful in this role, we are looking for candidates to have the following skills and experience:

 

Essential criteria

  1. Strong interpersonal and communication skills including motivating, influencing and negotiating with stakeholders
  2. Excellent written communication skills, with ability to tailor communications appropriately depending on messaging & audience 
  3. Experience of running successful small- and large-scale events
  4. Excellent organisational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritise effectively and meet deadlines
  5. Understanding of the needs of international students, particularly in the context of student wellbeing
  6. Excellent working knowledge Microsoft Office and online platforms, with confidence & drive to learn to use new systems when required
  7. Strong commitment to equality & diversity in the workplace

 

Desirable criteria

  1. Educated to degree level  
  2. Experience of supporting the student experience in a Higher Education setting 
  3. Experience of managing feedback mechanisms and an understanding of the importance of the student voice within Higher Education
