About us

The King’s Health Partners Clinical Trials Office (KHP-CTO) is a collaboration between King’s College London, Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust, King’s College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust and South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust (the Partner Organisations). It is set up to provide a single interface for those wishing to conduct clinical trials within the Partner Organisations, and to ensure that there are common, efficient processes for the set up and administration of clinical trials.

About the role

The Commercial Trials Officer will work as part of the team to provide an efficient and effective service for investigators, companies and contract research organisations that are seeking to conduct commercial clinical trials within the Partner Organisations.  The post holder will act as the primary contact within the KHP-CTO for the review and negotiation of Contract Amendments and Confidentiality Disclosure Agreements (CDAs) across all therapeutics areas. The post holder will also support with feasibility activities and support with aspects of study set up including contract and budget reviews and assessing, arranging and confirming capacity and capability for designated types of studies

This is a full time post (35 Hours per week), and you will be offered an indefinite contract.

About you

To be successful in this role, we are looking for candidates to have the following skills and experience:

Essential criteria

1. Possess relevant commercial trial experience within the NHS and/or Industry
2. Good negotiation skills with ability to influence
3. Excellent organisational and time management skills and the ability to manage a large and diverse portfolio of CDAs, Contract Amendments and new studies
4. The ability to build successful relationships, collaborate in cross-functional teams and maintain a positive work environment
5. The ability to work to SOPs and local working processes
6. Good communication and language skills, including good attention to detail
7. Practical problem-solving skills and the ability to think analytically. Self-starting and able to work largely unsupervised
8. Strong computer skills (proficient with MS word, Excel and web-based applications)

Desirable criteria

1. Direct, relevant work experience in field of clinical trials and sponsored research
2. Experience of commercial clinical trial set up
3. Knowledge and understanding of the regulatory and statutory governance for clinical trials
4. Knowledge and understanding of the relevant contract templates and commercial costing model
