Applications are invited for appointment as Curriculum Development Officer (at the rank of Lecturer/Assistant Lecturer) in the Centre for Advancement of Chinese Language Education and Research (CACLER) within the Faculty of Education (Ref.: 527250), to commence as soon as possible until August, 31, 2025, with the possibility of renewal.
Applicants should possess a Master’s degree in Education, Chinese Language or a related discipline, or a Master’s degree and a recognized teaching qualification (e.g. PGDE); and at least 8 years’ experience in teaching or developing school-based Chinese curriculum in local kindergartens/primary schools or equivalent. They should also have a good command of written and spoken Chinese (mainly Cantonese); and experience in IT applications and Chinese computer operations. Preference will be given to those who have solid experience in teaching multicultural students. Applicants with lower qualifications and/or less experience may be considered for appointment at the rank of Assistant Lecturer.
The appointee will be responsible for diagnosing the needs of multicultural students and their teachers through need analysis; providing school-based support for our collaborative kindergartens and/or primary schools; collaborating with teachers in curriculum development, lesson planning, peer lesson observation and post-lesson debriefing; developing pedagogical approaches and materials to cater for the learning diversity of multicultural students; promoting learning and teaching (L&T) with assessment data; sharing school-based experience and good practices at teacher seminars; writing progress reports; facilitating the vertical development of project schools at the stage of both kindergartens and primary education to enhance knowledge exchange of experienced project schools with the novice project schools; facilitating horizontal development of project schools by providing a platform for the cross-fertilization of ideas and opinions with evidence-based practices in kindergarten and primary education; and performing other duties as assigned.
