The University of Southampton Widening Participation and Social Mobility (WPSM) Directorate are pleased to be recruiting for a new Financial Support Coordinator to join the Financial Support Team. The post will support the team to help students manage their financial wellbeing as well as administering funding through the University's Student Support Fund.
The University of Southampton offers a wide range of financial support to students with the team administering the University's bursary programme, a Student Support Fund of more than £500,000 which offers non-repayable grants to students in financial hardship, and a financial education offer of events and information sessions. The team also administer funding through the US Federal Loans scheme. The appointed post holder will support the team to ensure that the University continues to develop and deliver a robust financial support offer that also enables the University to ensure progress made against the newly published Access and Participation Plan.
The successful candidate will have experience of working with customer or service users as well as an understanding of inequalities within higher education. You will be a strong communicator with passion for activities which support students to engage with opportunities and thrive at university. Experience providing financial information or support is not essential, but strong applicants will have an understanding of wider barriers to financial support, and a passion for supporting students.
If you would like to discuss the role in more detail please contact Kirsty Coombs, Financial Support Team Manager (K.a.coombs@soton.ac.uk).
We believe equality, diversity and inclusion are fundamental to making the University of Southampton a welcoming, vibrant and successful organisation. Having a diverse workforce, inclusive of people of all ages and beliefs, from different racial backgrounds, educational and social backgrounds opens up a wealth of possibilities, makes us more creative and accelerates our impact on society. We welcome applicants that value diversity of our community and are willing to play their part in supporting the mission of inclusivity.
