Te Whiwhinga mahi - The opportunity

Are you a veterinary clinical specialist who is looking for a change of direction? We are recruiting boarded (or equivalent) specialists to oversee the development and delivery of areas of our new curriculum related to their specialty. Check out the future of veterinary science at Massey University - Te Kunenga ki Pūrehuroa. Depending on your background and aspirations, you could combine your teaching role with a research component as a full-time (37.5hrs)

Lecturer/Senior Lecturer or Associate Professor (depending on your level of research experience).

OR

Take on a full-time (37.5hrs) teaching role as a Professional Clinician/Senior Professional Clinician. This role would also suit someone wanting to work part-time around their clinical commitments.

This role is based at our Manawatū campus in Palmerston North. Ideally you would be on-site, however we will consider distance appointments, particularly for applicants who have several years of experience teaching in a veterinary school. Our ideal candidate will have at least 2-3 years' experience in a specialist discipline and be passionate about educating the next generation of veterinarians.

Key attributes:

BVSc or equivalent degree Veterinary specialist qualification in a clinical discipline (e.g American, European or Australasian College) Experience in teaching veterinary undergraduates desirable but not essential Postgraduate research qualification desirable Ngā taipitopito tūranga mahi - Job details

Appointment Level

Appointment would be at Professional Clinician/Senior Professional Clinician or Lecturer/Senior Lecturer/Associate Professor depending on experience and qualifications.

The salary spanning these roles (2024), is from $81,172- $143,949 (NZD). Salary will be negotiable by background/experience.

Note that a relevant postgraduate qualification (Masters or PhD level) and research outputs would be expected for a Lecturer/Senior Lecturer track appointment. Substantial research experience and outputs are required for an Associate Professor appointment.
