Open Position: Institutional Effectiveness Advisor/Accreditation Specialist
National Defense College (NDC) of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) invites applications from qualified candidates for full-time, open rank, faculty positions supporting the ongoing growth of the National Defense College as a premier institution of higher learning and strategic thought in the UAE and the region. The primary purpose of these positions is to design, develop, and deliver the College's in-residence educational programs in Strategic and Security Studies and produce scholarly research in Arabic and/or English focused on local, regional, and international strategic and security issues relevant to the UAE and the region. Applicants’ bilingual in Arabic and English will receive preference for employment.
Must relocate to the UAE (families are allowed) for a minimum period of 2 years
Tasks:
Working with the Development Department, Institutional Effectiveness Advisor (Accreditation) shall be responsible for tracking the college accreditation process and for keeping abreast of accreditation reporting for the existing Commission for Academic Accreditation (CAA) activities, including reviews. Specific Tasks that are the responsibility of the Institutional
Effectiveness Advisor (Accreditation) include:
Assisting UAE staff in the production of supporting documentation and other accreditation progress reports as required.
Conducting a range of academic functions in support of the UAE NDC mission, including supporting the building of institutional capacity, and providing advice and assistance to faculty and staff as required in support of the UAE NDC mission.
Acting as the Security Assistance lead for the CAA accreditation of the UAE
NDC; providing mentoring while attending meetings, preparing briefings, writing update reports and all associated papers.
Supporting the implementation of the strategic plan for accreditation of the UAE NDC in the U.S. as an independent institution through, for example, the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools.
Participating in the Commission on Colleges, including attending meetings and preparing and delivering papers in support of accreditation and related subject matters.
Supporting UAE NDC activities in general to secure accreditation of the awarding of masters and doctoral degrees, in support of the UAE NDC mission.
Assisting the UAE staff with producing work plans and budget estimates for the UAE NDC accreditation process.
Contributing to the development, via recommendations to the academic policies and directives at the UAE NDC.
Serving as a faculty member.
Qualifications shall include at a minimum:
Education: Ph.D. is desired; Applicants shall possess at a minimum a Master’s Degree in an applicable field, from an accredited university recognized by the U.S. Department of Education.
Experience: Must have at least three (3) years of recent academic accreditation experience; teaching experience at an accredited university/college would be a plus. Substantial professional or academic background in the development of curriculum and, in particular, accreditation, is highly desired. Advanced communication and writing skills and insight into higher education are required.
