Position overview
The ANU School of Art and Design is seeking a new team member to contribute to its Visual Arts and Design programs. The position represents a unique opportunity to contribute to a socially-engaged, future-focused program within a vibrant, top 20 internationally ranked university. The School pursues an approach that is engaged, ethical, transdisciplinary, and inclusive of digital and material practices. It promotes cross-disciplinary partnerships to generate new forms of visual art and design practice and research, and supports creative scholarship at all levels from undergraduate to PhD.
The School is seeking a Lecturer to contribute to teaching and research in glass and ceramics. We seek candidates with wide-ranging knowledge of glass and ceramics techniques and processes, including but not limited to hot glass, flameworking, neon, mould-making and casting, wheel-formed ceramics, surface treatments, vessel design / production and digital fabrication. The successful applicant will have a relevant PhD or equivalent qualification, experience in teaching glass and ceramics in a university art and/or design context, and a demonstrated track record of relevant research and practice. Candidates with interdisciplinary profiles are encouraged to apply.
The School of Art & Design is located in the ANU College of Arts and Social Sciences (CASS) at ANU’s Acton Campus, adjacent to Canberra’s city centre. The ANU College of Arts and Social Sciences (CASS) is one of seven Colleges at ANU. The College, which is structured into two main research schools, offers degrees in more than 20 discipline areas and excels in research across the creative arts, humanities and social sciences. The College has a substantial international research presence and is a major source of national policy advice.
