Auckland University of Technology (AUT) is seeking a dynamic and experienced leader to direct our MBA and Professional Masters programmes within the dynamic Faculty of Business, Economics and Law. We invite applications from individuals with academic leadership experience, as well as from those with a strong business leadership and management background.
Te Whiwhinga mahi | The opportunity
As Director, you will be responsible for guiding our MBA and Professional Masters programmes to new levels of success. Your role will involve both strategic vision and operational management, leveraging your knowledge of contemporary and future-oriented business to ensure our programmes maintain high standards and adapt to the changing needs of students and industry.
Key responsibilities include:
- Strategic Development: Design and implement innovative curriculum and programme strategies that address emerging business trends and challenges, collaborating extensively with Heads of School/Departments, teaching and administration colleagues.
- Industry Engagement: Build and maintain strong relationships with business leaders and industry partners to enhance programme relevance and opportunities.
- Operational Excellence: Oversee the quality and delivery of the programmes, ensuring they meet academic standards and effectively serve our students.
- Student Experience: Address complex student matters and improve the overall learning environment.
- Continuous Improvement: Stay updated with industry developments and integrate new approaches to keep our programmes relevant and compelling.
- Management: Responsibility for contractors who teach as part of our programmes.

We're seeking interest from individuals passionate about business education, who have the following experience and qualifications:
- Leadership: Proven success in senior management or leadership roles within academia, business or industry, ideally with experience in programme or project management.
- Curriculum and Programme Management: Experience in developing and managing educational programmes or similar initiatives is beneficial, but not mandatory.
- Business Insight: Understanding of current global and local business challenges and trends.
- Team Management: Experience in leading and working across teams and fostering a productive work environment.
- Academic Credentials: A postgraduate degree in business or a related field is preferred; however, significant professional experience can be considered.
