The position is part of the Corporate Communication (CCom) Research Group at the Department of Communication, a sub-unit of the Faculty of Social Sciences at the University of Vienna. The Department of Communication is one of the largest and most research-intensive communication science departments worldwide.

Your personal sphere of influence:

The CCom Research Group’s current research focuses on employee communication, corporate social responsibility, diversity & inclusion, crisis communication and criticism in social media. If you are interested in one or more of these topics and have possibly already gained initial research experience, e.g. as part of a Master’s or Bachelor’s thesis, you have come to the right place.

Your future tasks:

You will be actively involved in research, teaching and administration, which means

  • You will be involved in research projects and scientific studies of the CCom Research Group as well as in the publication and presentation of research results. You will also provide support in applying for new research projects.
  • We expect you to complete your dissertation agreement within 12-18 months.
  • You will work on your dissertation and its completion.
  • You will teach courses independently as defined by the collective agreement.
  • You will take on administrative tasks in research and teaching.

This is part of your personality:

  • You have a Master's/Diploma degree in communication science (ideally with a focus on PR/strategic communication/communication management) or a related discipline such as psychology or business administration.
  • You have very good knowledge of empirical research methods.
  • You are also expected to have very good written and oral communication skills in English (C1 level).
  • We are looking for a team player with excellent social skills to join our team.
  • If you already have teaching experience, this would be an advantage.

Fair salary: Four-year fixed term contract (30 hours/week): The contract is for 30 hours (75%) and is limited to four years. The basic salary of EUR 3,578.80 (per month, based on 40 hours/week; 14 times a year) increases if we can credit professional experience.

Duration of contract: The employment duration is 3 years. Initially limited to 1.5 years, the employment relationship is automatically extended to 3 years if the employer does not terminate it within the first 12 months by submitting a declaration of non-extension.
