About the team
The School of Physics, Mathematics and Computing at UWA combines Departments with strong identities and histories going back to the beginnings of UWA. Today, the School teaches a wide variety of courses across the disciplines and they are continually evolving to meet current and future challenges. We engage in world-leading research with impact in many areas such as quantum measurement, partial differential equations, and computer vision. There are also deep School-wide collaborations exploiting synergies in courses and research: Data Science, Quantum Computing and Mathematical Physics are just three prominent examples.
The Department of Computer Science and Software Engineering in the School of Physics, Mathematics and Computing is renowned for its award-winning researchers, teachers and facilities. The broad-based undergraduate and postgraduate programs are complemented by a wide range of research activities and the School is a leader in developing graduates with high level expertise in computer programming and the methods involved in performing complex computations and processing data. About the opportunity
As the appointee, you will undertake independent teaching in the area of Computer Science and Software Engineering. You will be a unit-coordinator and lecturer for a range of units taught by the Department in its undergraduate and postgraduate programs in Computer Science, Data Science, Cybersecurity, Artificial Intelligence, Software Engineering and Information Technology. Contribute to ongoing development of the Department's academic programs.
You will be expected to make a long-term contribution to teaching excellence in the Department. You should have University teaching experience in Computer Science, ideally including lecturing, unit co-ordination and assessment design as well as lab demonstration and other classes.
To be considered for this opportunity, you will demonstrate:
- PhD in Computer Science or an academic field relevant to the discipline or other higher professional qualifications appropriate to the discipline.
- Demonstrated ability to develop and deliver innovative teaching approaches, assessment and materials for units and courses.
- Demonstrated commitment to inclusive teaching practices to extend equality of opportunity for all learners.
- Participation in education/research leadership in public engagements that promote research and/or education outcome, government and industry.
- Demonstrated ability to relate well to staff and students at all levels and evidence of a commitment to equity and diversity principles.
- Demonstrated ability to contribute positively to team, school and wider University activities such as team and school meetings, strategic planning and program development.
