About Us

The position is based within the Department of Twin Research and Genetic Epidemiology at King's College London, which is part of the School of Life Course and Population Sciences within the Faculty of Life Sciences and Medicine. The department is dedicated to studying twins and other longitudinal cohorts to elucidate the genetic and environmental determinants of health and disease. Our comprehensive research portfolio includes studies and analyses of genetics, epigenetics, and the influence of environmental factors - such as lifestyle and diet - on complex diseases such as cancer, cardiovascular conditions, diabetes and osteoporosis. Additionally, the department explores the ageing process and the pivotal role of the microbiome in health, making significant contributions to the fields of genetic epidemiology and public health. The department also benefits from strong collaborative partnerships at KCL, and nationally and internationally, enhancing our research impact and reach.

About the role

The Research Programme Manager will play a crucial role in leading the setup and delivery of two high-profile studies funded by the Cancer Grand Challenges. These studies will investigate factors contributing to early onset colorectal cancer and develop and test new risk assessment and prevention methods. The two studies, PROSPECT-TwinsUK (a dietary intervention clinical trial) and PROSPECT-UK (a large-scale online community study), require diligent oversight to ensure their successful execution. The postholder will be based at the Department of Twin Research and Genetic Epidemiology and will work closely with the PROSPECT team at the Department of Nutritional Sciences at King’s College London. In addition to these studies, the role involves supporting the establishment of a broader programme of community health research and bioresource management. The Research Programme Manager will coordinate efforts across multiple projects, foster collaboration among stakeholders, and ensure that all research activities align with strategic objectives. The Research Programme Manager will utilise their expertise to drive the success of these initiatives, enhance research quality, and contribute to the overall impact of the research programme.
