Directorate

The University of Bradford is committed to embedding the Sustainable Development Goals into our teaching, learning, research and operations. We are in the process of developing our next Sustainability Strategy and Decarbonisation Plans and are looking for a passionate, driven and experienced Environmental Sustainability Manager to join our newly formed Sustainability Service and help us realise our goals.  

What you will be doing:

• You will implement a university-wide accredited Environmental Management System.
• You will support the development of the Decarbonisation Plan and Sustainability Strategy.
• You will lead and manage team members, providing the support, guidance and development required to deliver their programmes and projects.
• You will ensure that environmental data is collated, maintained and reported in line with internal and external requirements such as sector reporting and benchmarking, and University KPIs.

Qualifications/ experience:

• Undergraduate degree or relevant equivalent experience preferably in a sustainability/environmental related discipline.
• Practical experience of environmental management systems and certification.
• Significant experience of line management and team leadership, including planning, coordinating, and managing budgets and resources, allocating priorities, delegating and problem solving. 
• Experience of environmental management in a large complex organisation.
• Experience of leading strategic projects and programmes in environmental themes such as biodiversity, travel, waste, procurement, and construction, within a multi-stakeholder environment.
• Comprehensive knowledge of current, relevant environmental legislation and best practice.
• The ability to communicate complex and detailed information concisely and appropriately to a range of audiences both written and verbally.
