The Role
The Faculty of Medicine, Health and Human Sciences (FMHHS) is seeking an Associate Professor/Professor to lead the development of the academic nursing discipline including the design, development, implementation and accreditation of a new Master of Nursing as a pre-registration qualification.
Working in close collaboration with the University's academic health sciences centre, MQ Health you will also contribute to interprofessional health education, nursing professional practice development, leadership and research, across MQ Health. The position will be located within the Department of Health Sciences, and will report to the Head of Department and the Faculty's Associate Dean Graduate Health Education.

Health education courses led from the Faculty include the Doctor of Medicine, Doctor of Physiotherapy, Master of Chiropractic, Master of Clinical Audiology, Master of Public Health, Master of Speech and Language Pathology, Master degrees in Clinical Psychology, Clinical Neuropsychology, Organisational Psychology and Professional Psychology, and Bachelor degrees in Clinical Science, Exercise and Sports Science, Psychology, and Speech and Hearing Sciences.

About You
The successful applicant will be an experienced nurse academic with demonstrated extensive experience in leading pre-registration nursing degrees including managing academic and clinical teams to deliver successful nursing degrees as well as leading accreditation with the Australian Nursing and Midwifery Accreditation Council.

Essential Criteria
- AHPRA general registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia
- A PhD in nursing or a relevant health education field
- Significant experience in the accreditation of a pre-registration nursing degree with the Australian Nursing and Midwifery Accreditation Council
- Significant experience in the design, development and implementation of a pre-registration nursing degree
- Evidence of high-quality and research-informed teaching in nursing including preparation of teaching materials and designing and delivering engaging learning activities
- Well-developed understanding of nursing education nationally and internationally including clinical placement requirements
- Extensive network of professional colleagues in public and private hospital sectors as well as primary and community care
- Strong vision for embedding Indigenous perspectives, as well as inclusive and interprofessional education in the Master of Nursing.
- Demonstrated leadership in nursing education in a higher education setting, including building and developing high performing teams.
Desirable Criteria
- Evidence of high-quality research in nursing
- A record of scholarly research publications in nursing and/or nursing education
- Demonstrated evidence of ability to foster a research culture
Specific role requirements
This position requires you to comply with occupational screening, assessment and vaccinations in line with Macquarie University health requirements and requires a current and valid Working with Children Check Clearance for NSW. You may also have to satisfy Macquarie University that you meet all background checks (including criminal record and qualification checks).
