The Department of Translation sets out to provide an education in bilingual studies which nourish graduates with competence in Chinese and English as well as capacity to think independently. One of its central features is the equal emphasis on translation as a profession and as an academic discipline. Another feature is the importance attached to the socio-cultural environment of the Chinese and English languages. The appointee will be required to teach courses in one or more of the following areas: (1) Computer-aided Translation, (2) Translation and Creative Industries, (3) Journalistic Translation or (4) Legal Translation. Excellent command of Chinese and English is a must, and competence in both Cantonese and Putonghua will be an advantage. General Requirements

Candidates should preferably have a doctoral degree in Translation Studies or related disciplines. Applicants with an MA degree, equipped with substantial teaching or industry experience would also be actively considered.

The conditions of appointment will be competitive. Remuneration will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
