About Us

The school is based at the Stratford Campus within easy walking distance of the Olympic Park, vibrant Westfield shopping centre and developing East London cultural quarter and has extensive and easy transport links. Recent development of the Stratford campus which includes the Hospital and Primary Care Hub has resulted in the university realising its ambitions to have a comprehensive health campus at Stratford which offers the latest technology to support the learning of all health students. Further expansion of these facilities is planned for 2024/25.

At UEL the Department of Nursing & Midwifery, which sits in the School of Health, Sport & Bioscience has grown significantly over recent years. Current pre-registration courses include Nursing Associate, Adult Nursing and Midwifery (new for Sept 2023) for both self-funding and apprenticeship learners. Future plans include the approval of additional fields of nursing which will facilitate the development of a diverse community of health students learning together.

The successful applicant will join an ambitious department and an enthusiastic academic team who have a strong passion for student-focused teaching, and a clear understanding and respect for the unique needs of widening participation cohorts of students. 

About the job

The Subject Area Lead is a pivotal senior role in the department and as a result we are seeking to appoint an experienced senior academic, who holds current registration with the NMC and has a doctorate or credible research / publication record or relevant professional experience, evidence of teaching excellence, working collaboratively with health care partners and some experience of leading / managing people are essential - Associate Professor status is desirable.
