About the role
The Department of Twin Research and Genetic Epidemiology at King's College London is looking to appoint a highly efficient, well organised Operations Assistant to support administrative duties in a world class clinical research group and support the Senior Business Manager, Department and the TwinsUK Resource (www.twinsuk.ac.uk). The post is based at St. Thomas’ Hospital but with close links with other Research Departments, the School of Lifecourse and Population Sciences at King’s as well as outside Research Organisations.
The post holder will be required to work closely with the Senior Business Manager as well as other managerial staff and Principal Investigators in supporting processes involved with the TwinsUK resource. You will provide comprehensive, high quality and efficient administrative support around HR processes and financial support, procurement, website updates and routine departmental duties, arranging conference meetings and events for research activities and twin participant engagement. This is a varied role and would suit someone looking for a career in administration within a university and also within a clinical research facility.
This is a full time post (35 Hours per week), and you will be offered a fixed term contract until 31/08/2026.
About You
To be successful in this role, we are looking for candidates to have the following skills and experience:
Essential criteria
- Numeracy, with proven financial management and basic analytical skills
- Strong communication, negotiation and influencing skills at all levels
- Ability to work under pressure in a busy environment
- General office skills including filing and document management
- Excellent computer skills including Microsoft outlook, Word, Excel, Website packages and design software
- Proven Professional Services skills gained within the Higher/Further Education or public sector and a detailed knowledge the regulatory, policy and procedural context along with the challenges and opportunities faced by the sector
- Office experience around HR processes
Desirable criteria
- Proven commitment to ongoing skills development
- Experience of financial planning and implementation, including preparing budget, financial profiling, preparing business cases and plans, and monitoring key performance indicators, budgets and risks
- Experience of using complex databases and management information systems
- Experience using website design packages
