The  Florence Nightingale Faculty of Nursing, Midwifery & Palliative Care (NMPC) is based in the heart of central and south London. It includes the  Cicely Saunders Institute for Palliative Care, Policy & Rehabilitation, the premier Institute for Palliative Care, bringing together clinical, research and education teams.

Our applied clinical and health multidisciplinary research transforms therapies, the healthcare experience and outcomes for patients and those important to them, wherever they are cared for. Our award-winning NMPC education programmes span pre-registration nursing and midwifery, and multidisciplinary post-graduate taught and research programmes.

About the role

We are really pleased to offer this excellent opportunity to join our team in the Florence Nightingale Faculty of Nursing, Midwifery & Palliative Care as Research Assistant in Digital Health on the Co-designing Digital Health Interventions With Patients, Carers, The Public, And Practitioners: Evidence Syntheses And Online Toolkit (COLLATE) study, funded by the National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR). Led by Dr O’Connor, the COLLATE study is undertaking mixed methods systematic reviews on co-designing digital health interventions with different stakeholder groups such as patients, carers, the public, and healthcare practitioners. These rigorous evidence syntheses will be used to co-create an online toolkit that details the range of co-design methods, tools, and theories used in digital health research. This post will involve a number of key research tasks including but not limited to searching and screening scientific studies, critically appraising research studies, extracting and analysing research data, and writing up manuscripts for publication. The role will also hold responsibility for preparing ethics documentation, recruiting participants to a series of co-creation workshops, collecting and analysing data from co-creation works on the design and function of an online toolkit on digital health co-design, and preparing study documents including manuscript and reports as required.

This is a full time post (35 Hours per week), and you will be offered an a fixed term contract until 31st July 2025.

About You

To be successful in this role, we are looking for candidates to have the following skills and experience:

Essential criteria

1. A degree in health or social sciences or similar awarded to a high level (e.g., first or 2.1)
2. Experience of qualitative or quantitative research methods and a good understanding of methods in digital health research
3. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to adapt communication to the situation
4. Excellent time management skills with the ability to multitask and prioritise and complete work within deadlines
5. Strong organisational and planning skills with proven ability to coordinate and deliver projects
6. Ability to work independently as well as part of a multidisciplinary team
7. A commitment to promoting equality, diversity and inclusivity for staff and students

Desirable criteria

1. A postgraduate qualification e.g., MSc or PhD
2. Research experience in digital health and co-design demonstrated by participation in delivery of research projects and authorship on academic publications
3. Knowledge and experience in using research databases and data analysis software such as N-Vivo or Stata
4. Research experience in Patient and Public Involvement
