Full Time – 18 Month Fixed Term Opportunity Available

The Department of English, Creative Writing, and Film is seeking to appoint a Teaching Fellow (B) in English Literature to join our outstanding team as the discipline enters the next phase of its long history at Adelaide. 

The successful candidate will have a significant research track record in some aspect of the modern history of the novel and the proven ability to teach across a spectrum of undergraduate courses. An ability to teach Australian and American literature is desirable but not essential. The successful applicant will also be expected to supervise higher-degree research students and to shoulder administrative duties within the Department as required.

The appointee will be expected to sustain and conduct research, engage in scholarship of quality and substance, and generate publications of international standard.

To be successful you will need:

  • A PhD in English
  • Experience in teaching a variety of courses in Australian university English
  • Record of success in effective teaching using evidence-based pedagogy that promotes student engagement
  • Record of successful course coordination, curriculum development, and/or pedagogical innovation
  • Research excellence in the discipline of English literary studies, as evidenced by publications in well-ranked journal and/or book publications
  • Ability to supervise HDR candidates and Honours students in English
  • Commitment to the principles of equity, diversity and inclusion
