About the Role 

We have an exciting opportunity for a qualified academic to join our dynamic department of Mechanical and Product Design Engineering as a Lecturer to undertake teaching and research activities in areas related to decarbonisation and sustainable energy technologies.

In this role, you will contribute to the teaching programs of the Department at both the undergraduate and postgraduate levels, which includes developing and supporting academic programs and working with the academic team in the development of program change and innovation. You will also be responsible for providing mentoring and support to students on academic matters, and supervising Honours and Masters Coursework students.

To be successful in this role, you will have research expertise in an area related to the engineering of low- and zero-carbon technologies which may include: renewable energy systems; efficient harvesting, storage, and utilisation; integration of renewable energy sources such as solar and hydrogen; and the replacement or elimination of carbon from industrial processes. You will develop new areas and foster new external partnerships to further the Department’s contribution to the University’s research excellence and impact and make original and innovative contributions to the advancement of future renewable energy and decarbonisation technologies that will enable step-changes in emerging and future mechanical engineering practices.

About You  

To be suitable for this role you will need to have experience in the below key accountabilities:

  • Demonstrated track record in quality publications related to Mechanical Engineering. This includes but is not limited to, specialisations in materials science, renewable energy, manufacturing, and mechanics.
  • Demonstrated ability to undertake teaching, associated administrative duties, management and curriculum development at both the undergraduate and postgraduate levels.  
  • Demonstrated track record in attracting and managing competitive research grants.
  • Demonstrated ability and involvement in research through collaboration with other universities, industry and/or government.
  • Experience in research student supervision is preferred. 

Qualifications

  • An earned doctoral qualification in Mechanical Engineering or a related field (essential)
  • A teaching qualification (preferable)
  • Membership of an appropriate professional body (preferable)
