Term Assistant Professor, English (Literature/Composition), Fall 2025
George Mason University Korea invites applications for an Assistant Professor of Literature and Composition position beginning August 2025. This is a full-time, non-tenure track position.
About the Position
This is a full-time instructional position, with the expectation of teaching 12 credit hours per semester. This is typically accomplished by teaching four 3-credit courses each semester. Term faculty are eligible for multi-year contracts and promotion. This position requires in-person teaching at Mason Korea; the work cannot be carried out remotely.

Responsibilities
The primary responsibility of faculty in this position will be to teach a combination of required second-year literature, first-year composition, and/or advanced composition courses in the Mason Core (Mason’s general education program). While the literature courses have flexibility of content, the composition courses are tightly coordinated courses and faculty are expected to follow the curricular approaches of the home department in at the US campus. During the first year, faculty new to teaching in Mason’s Composition program are required to teach program-designed curricula.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
- PhD in English language literature
- At least one year’s experience teaching college-level composition in a U.S. institution
Preferred Qualifications:
- Graduate coursework in composition pedagogy
- Experience with second language pedagogies
