The Position

The Administration Officer reports to the Administration Manager and undertakes a broad range of administrative tasks relating to day-to-day activities, acting as a first point of contact within the ANU Research School of Chemistry (RSC) for administrative services and providing support to a variety of School stakeholders, including staff, students and visitors. They will work in partnership with RSC School administration team members and with colleagues in The ANU College of Science and central University Services.

The Person

The Administration Officer provides general administrative support, contributing to the efficient coordination of the day-to-day operations of the RSC through liaising with staff and students and providing advice and assistance on a wide range of general administration, financial and human resources matters.

The School

Chemistry is a central science which underlies every scientific discipline from the environment through biology to physics and astronomy. Solutions to the world’s current major challenges - energy, water, and climate - will have their origins in chemistry. The RSC is the home of chemistry at the ANU and the breadth of our teaching and research activities mirrors the cross- and multi-disciplinary impacts of chemistry in our daily lives. The RSC accommodates over twenty world-class researchers who lead research groups comprising undergraduate and postgraduate students and postdoctoral fellows. Research-led teaching is a feature of the ANU and all the academic staff participate in the undergraduate teaching program. 

The College

The ANU College of Science encompasses the disciplines of: Astronomy, Biology, Chemistry, Earth Sciences, Environment and Society, Mathematics, Physics, and Science Communication and is also home to a number of cross-disciplinary and specialist Institutes and Centres.  Staff and students within the ANU College of Science conduct research and deliver a research-led education program that encompasses the breadth of the sciences, supported by extensive international networks and by world-class facilities.
