Institute for Research in School Education is a specialised department of the Faculty of Education, Masaryk University. Its mission is to develop research in school education in broader interdisciplinary contexts. Research attention is primarily focused on the conditions, processes, and outcomes of education in schools of various types and levels. The motto "better education through research" commits the Institute to provide a deeper understanding of educational reality and develop evidence for improving school practice.

YOUR JOB DESCRIPTION

The assistant professor performs activities related to both the teaching and research aspects of the academic profession:

  • Conducts independent research in accordance with the research profile of the Institute - the specific thematic focus will be subject to agreement between the applicant and the head of the Institute. Outputs of this activity include publications (articles in indexed professional journals, book chapters published by reputable publishers, etc.) and participation in local and international professional forums (conferences and seminars).
  • Prepares research and development projects and participates in their implementation.
  • Supervises, examines, and consults bachelor's and master's theses at various departments of the Faculty of Education, Masaryk University, acts as a supervisor or consultant in doctoral study programs, and participates in teaching and other activities in doctoral studies.
  • Is a member of examination boards for final and state final examinations.
  • Performs operational and administrative activities related to the agreed type of work according to the department head's instructions.

OUR REQUIREMENTS

Professional education and qualifications experience:

  • Graduate of a master's program in pedagogy, teaching, psychology, sociology, or related fields.
  • Completed doctoral study program (PhD) in pedagogy, andragogy, didactics of a specific field, psychology, sociology, or related fields.
  • Excellent knowledge of the Czech language.
  • Active knowledge of the English language (minimum level B2).
  • Potential for national and international research activities documented by a list of publications and professional activities relevant to the thematic profile of the Institute.
  • Experience in teaching at the university level.

Other knowledge and skills: (required)

  • Planning and conducting research, publishing in local and international renowned journals.
  • User knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and of secure management of data, information, and digital content; ability to collaborate through digital technologies (MS Teams, ZOOM, etc.).
  • Knowledge and skills in qualitative and/or quantitative research methodology in educational research.
  • Good organizational and communication skills, independence, responsibility, reliability, and the Capacity to independently conceive and develop original research initiatives, projects, and innovative teaching methodologies.
  • Ability to manage a varied workload.

Submitting the required documents when sending the e-application
